Non Inclusive

It’s disappointing that I cannot change the skin tone of my reaction emojis. One would think that since most if not all the other SM allow this, GroupMe would as well but it appears that the app is behind the times. Also, not being able to @ all or use the group name should be a feature.

Lots of scammers

It’s nice that you can put both android and iPhone in the same group but however terrible because random spammers pop up and try to sell you electronics and collect your information

Login issues

I can’t login on the app. After I enter my username and password correctly, it wants me to verify using a pin code The code the application sends keeps somehow being incorrect , even though I copy it directly from text message. It then locks me out after too many attempts from their error.

Not working well

It has suddenly become almost impossible to get out of a chat group by selecting the back arrow. Super annoying.

Fix verification system

Most obnoxious verification system of all time. The hell I need to prove I’m a human after each and every goddamn step I take?? Can’t type in my phone number or my password or a verification code without doing a 3 step verification test every single time. Ridiculous, fix your system! :)

Adding media to messages

It keeps glitching and deleting the plus sign that allows you to add pictures or other media to a chat. I keep having to close the app completely and sometimes that still doesn’t work. Can someone fix this asap?

Unable to use

GroupMe has an issue with phone number verification, i have used four phone numbers that belong to myself and others who live within my house and none are valid according to GroupMe and many others within the group I was using GroupMe for are struggling with a similar problem, please fix your phone number verification settings

Please add parental controls

We love this app for youth church groups in our local ward however, is there any way to create account with parental controls? It could be as simple as adding a pin to access the settings, then add web access restrictions and hiding the Discover tab in the settings menu. We often have a combo of youth leaders, parents, and youth in our group chats. This would be nice to decrease access to unwanted inappropriate content for our teens. Thanks

Scammers Galore

Every group chat I’ve been in, almost weekly a scammer has joined and offered free stuff as a scam, and I frequently get scammer DMs with the same script. This has been happening for months

Terrible app, terrible customer service

I’ve had a ongoing issue with this app since I’ve updated my iPhone. It doesn’t send me notifications. I tried everything, including deleting and reinstalling the app. I would cast this app into the deepest pit of hell if I didn’t have to use it for my kids’ sports. I tried getting help on their chat and it was the worst customer support experience I’ve ever received. The agent asked me countless questions that I had already addressed previously in the chat. He refused to escalate three different times, walking me through the same BS solutions I told I him I already tried. I hate this app and can’t wait until I don’t have to use it. If I could give it negative stats I would.

Terrible bugs

App won’t let me send messages if it THINKS it’s embedded with a link, even if it’s not. Literally prevents me from communicating, also beware of scammers, there’s certainly more than a few of them.

FIX MY ACCOUNT PLSSSS

GREAT APP!! I got good friends on their and stuff. Why the heck is my account frozen 😭😭 HOW DO I UNFREEZE IT!!!! It keeps saying that my phone number is associated with the account, so not only can I unfreeze it, I CANT EVEN MAKE A NEW ACCOUNT!! How do I fix this??

Horrible…

This app has become unusable with the amount of scam group chats I get added to. I can’t go a day without getting added to 2-3 free ticket group chats that constantly spam my notifications. Sadly, I cannot delete this app since it’s how my work communicates. But if you are looking for a good app for group communication, look somewhere else. I’ll delete this review once you can change a setting that stops letting people add you to their groups.

Holy Scam Messages

My ability to use the app is severely hindered by the constant bot accounts sending spam/scam messages in group chats. If using this platform, don’t be surprised to have to report the same “free MacBook” or “free concert tickets” two or three times a day.

Password reset loop

Stop the password reset loop. You guys are terrible. Worst app people reset of any app I’ve ever used.

I really like talking with my friends and copilot really helps too… but I have things to say about copilot I like to role play but when I add romance it’s like I can’t do that and I’m like it’s not that bad kissing isn’t bad ITS PURE LOVE, and being touchy in role plays ARE NOT BAD!!!! So that’s all I gatta say… make copilot be a little more less sensitive…

Obnoxious scammers and bots

School club group mes get overrun by bots and scammers that just make alt accounts when you kick them. Reporting doesn’t do anything.

Crash

Every time I open this app, my phones goes into a black loading screen and my phone gets hot. I deleted it and now my phone is fine. I’m going to try to re download.

App not currently working

Although GroupMe has been very helpful in the past, it’s very buggy at the moment. When I attempt to login, it gets stuck on “Pin verified. Logging in.” without me ever being able to actually access my chats. Customer support was not able to help me, so I hope the devs become aware of the problem and can fix whatever is keeping me locked out. It seems like I’m not the only one, based on my online searches.

Clunky Inferface

Unfortunate that this app has already become mainstream. The interface is very lacking compared to other social apps like WhatsApp, telegram, discord, etc. There are bugs in notifications where when I mute a chat I then receive no notifications at all.

I keep getting added to scam groups

I’m in a campus with 1000 people. Why are people allowed to force me into groups without my permission? I am getting added to a scam group every single day.

iPhone users beware

I am an iPhone user and have loaded many apps with no issue until GroupMe. I can download it but cannot join the group that my travel group created. It is totally frustrating!!!!!!!

Full of scammers

Doesn’t matter how many times we try, our group chats are constantly joined by scammers who text around the clock about alleged things they’re selling. There’s no peace and no solution if you’re a club that wants to keep your membership public. GroupMe has no options besides locking the chat down.

Horrible ipad support

It's astounding to me that a communications app in 2026 doesn't fully support ipadOS; it's not that hard to make windows resizeable and improves the usability by about 500%, but I basically can't use groupme on my ipad because I don't want to leave everything full screen.

Error messages

Multiple error messages, when I get to the verification pin I get another error message but, then it says pin verified, logging on and it just spins for ever and doesn’t log in, worthless.

So many scams

I use this app for clubs, social group chats, and other university organizations and get so many scammers. Scam and spam accounts are able to somehow get in to groups and send personal messages. I think it is something that needs to be looked in to because this has been a problem for me and many others for a long time now.

Increasingly glitchy

I have used GroupMe for several clubs over the years, but have recently noticed that it is getting very glitchy. I have the app on both my laptop and phone, and neither update in real time. You have to exit out of the conversation or app entirely in order for it to update and show all of your messages. I have not experienced this issue before this year. This is very frustrating, as I am now frequently missing important information because I don’t realize that people are sending messages at the same time as me. I have heard similar complaints from other friends that use GroupMe, and it is getting to the point where all of my organizations are looking for different apps to use for communication.

A week of problems

My app stopped loading conversations a week ago. I uninstalled app and reinstalled. Now I get nothing but errors and am not able to sign in. I am really frustrated. I also am not able to submit a tech support request.

Search doesn’t work at all

Title says it all. Search functionality is completely broken and can’t find things by simply keyword searching even one word.

Scams made app unusable

The amount of people scamming on this app and somehow joining private servers is ridiculous.

Fix jumping to message

When I search a message and click it it won’t Jump to it. FIX IT!

broken app. can't create account. gives an error while trying to collect my birthdate (which they definitely do not need anyway, so this is another strike). My general feeling is that the app collects data it does not need (which is a privacy problem). This loses trust right off the bat, and makes me wonder what other shady things they are doing. On top of that, you can't create an account anyway ("Something went wrong. Let's try again." .... over and over again)

Error

When I tried to enter my phone number to create a account, It never worked and said “Enter a valid phone number”

Great app but….

Love this app but it has annoying, recurring bugs like I don’t get messages at work unless I turn off the WiFi. Some how affected by the Firewall? No other app on my phone has this issue.
