Horrible updates

Guys this was such a good app, and I’m very sad that you’ve changed it. I’ve been using it for years but the update is such horrible UI that I’m going to try to get a refund and try a different budget app. What changed? 1. Required “budget closing” This makes the app way too rigid and then messes with your next months budget without an option to turn it off. When you have a month that doesn’t really make sense or you forgot to track, it makes starting over for the next month IMPOSSIBLE and incredibly confusing. I DO NOT want it to “add” money to the next months budget for me. If you want it to be an OPTION, sure, but to make it mandatory is horrible!! 2. Tracked transactions don’t disappear anymore This just makes tracking transactions really confusing. Before, when you tracked a transaction it would disappear into a separate folder. It was satisfying. Now it’s just one long overwhelming list :/ Sad to say I won’t be renewing my every dollar subscription as this features render the app unusable. If they get rid of them, or make them optional, please let me know. Been a regular user of this app since 2022 :(

New update is terrible

The monthly close locks your budget and you cannot edit it. It also carries over leftover budget which is not how I handle my budget! I cancelled my subscription. So sad because I’ve been using it for years. Hopefully they remove the monthly close feature or at least make it optional

Long time disappointed user

The app had been working very well for a long time. It’s been my go to. After this last update. The math isn’t working. Whenever I enter a transaction, it turns it red and tells me that I have that amount remaining instead of taking it off the total for that month or that item this needs to be fixed ASAP.

Bad changes

I’ve used this app since it was released and have been very happy with it. However this latest update that locks budgets more than two months old completely breaks my workflow. We don’t need you to judge us for when we budget, just give us flexibility to budget when we can. Sometime I get a few months behind but I always catch myself up. Now I can’t. I’ll have to cancel my subscription and go somewhere else.

It started fine and got worse

I’ve been using this app several years; it was fine. It was good for what it was; tracking expenses day-to-day. That information doesn’t need to be stored online, but it was fine. Over the years the app has gotten more and more bloated, slower to use, and harder to use, and they’ve been pushing more and more for the premium subscription. Now suddenly they’ve locked off previous months; you can no longer put in transactions from three months ago. Why? Dunno, but this finally pushed me over to finding a better app.

Was great, but the budget closing feature ruined everything

I used EveryDollar for over a year and it helped me so much in managing my finances. However, they just recently added a budget closing feature. While the feature in and of itself is not a bad idea, it completely restructures the app in a way that conflicts with how I’ve used it in the past. I used to be able to edit past budgets and return to them, which I used to keep track of leftover money or determine when I was still owed some. Also, if I was not able to review a previous month’s budget, I could use the new one until I had time to catch up with my finances. I am immensely disappointed by this new update. I hope they change this feature to be optional. If not, I may just need to find a new budgeting app.

They have ruined it

I will be deleting this app. They have made recent changes which make it worthless. Once you are over budget, adding expenses in the past changed the over budget amount. It no longer does that. Also, they’ve taken away the ability to see at a glance at the top what you planned, spent and how much is remaining. You know have to scroll down and it’s not as easy to see at a glance where you stand. I have no idea why they would make these negative changes, but the app no longer works for me.

Tap-to-top!!

Please enable Apple’s very known and convenient tap-to-top on the Budget and Today menus. It’s very annoying having to manually scroll all the way back to the top. The Transactions and Accounts have the functionality enabled.

Use a spreadsheet instead!

This is not very practical. I have been using a spreadsheet to track my spending for the past year. It makes perfect sense. It’s comprehensive. This app is too simplistic. It doesn’t come close to including all the options needed to cover the variety of expenses that I have. Also, I AM HAVING DIFFICULTY CANCELLING. That should never be the case. I am going to end up paying $18 a month for this!

Closes each month without notice

The app is great except they rolled out an update that closes previous months & make them UN-editable. Without any warning. For some this may be fine, but sometimes I throw extra money at the end of the month into a few different sinking funds. Or wait to transfer the savings until after the month is over. Or say one month we spend more money on clothes at the beginning of school and then the next month we don’t, the sinking funds help keep track of saving some each month. Or say you didn’t spend all your money in a category, you can’t adjust the budget lower and put the money somewhere else after they “close” that months. What a joke! I want a refund.

Don’t waste your time

It calculate all my expenses wrong, I pay $80 but telling me I pay $28 and then saying I’m over budget but my monthly rent $927 monthly… how I’m over budget ? That rent money keep roof over my head ???

Terrible, just terrible

I have not been able to log into my bank accounts for months now using plaid. So I have Dave Ramsey $80 dollars for nothing! I can’t even get a refund. Well played Dave, well played! Don’t just stay away from this app, run away! I’m not the only person with this problem. Google it and see how many others have it as well. Please don’t fall for the scam app

I don’t like the new update

The app was pretty good before and was relatively customizable but with this new update you’re literally not allowed to delete certain categories. I don’t track my emergency fund through this app but when it updated it had added the emergency fund line back plus put an amount in. When I try to delete it so my budget isn’t crowded with lines I don’t use, I get a pop up telling me I can’t delete it because emergency savings is important and I should be doing it. It feels like I’m getting lectured by an app. You’re not even allowed to change the name of the emergency fund and use it for something else. It just has to sit there, empty and cluttering up the budget lines. I pay $17.99 monthly for this app. I should be able to customize it as much as I like. What was really needed instead in this update was the ability to put biweekly paychecks on a consistent schedule so you don’t need to go in on the first of every month and change the date on each paycheck and then go literally line by line and change the income date for each budget line. I wish you could just select “Biweekly pay schedule” and put in the first dates and then it calculates that your next pay will be in two more weeks.

Plaid connection is terrible

I use a robinhood credit card and am frequently missing many transactions and occasionally seeing duplicate transactions with the paid version of every dollar. The only reason we paid for premium is for automatic transaction tracking, however the tracking feature barely works. The only way to tell transactions are missing is to manually check every single transaction against your bank statement. Therefore making the automated tracking useless. I contacted support and they told me to manually track my transactions and that I’m not eligible for a refund. Even though the app literally does not do what it promised. Every dollar is trying to pawn off the blame on plaid. Everydollar, don’t use plaid if it doesn’t work. Figure out how to make it work or don’t offer premium as an option since you can’t deliver on it. DO BETTER DAVE RAMSEY.

Disappointing Lack of iPhone Duo Optimization

I use this app every day, and it’s frustrating that it still hasn’t been properly optimized for the new iPhone Duo and its foldable display. For such a widely used app, I would expect better support for new devices, especially when it comes to full-screen functionality and taking advantage of the larger unfolded display. It’s disappointing that users can’t fully enjoy the app on their new phones. I hope the developers take this seriously and prioritize releasing an optimized update as soon as possible. Until then, the lack of proper support significantly affects the overall experience.

If you get a subscription through your employer get ready to be frustrated

I got this as an app package available from my employer. My employer spends money every quarter per person subscriptions but every time they update the app the subscription goes please contact support your subscriptions have lapsed. Since they update the app so much I am always having issues. I had to unsubscribe because it was such a time suck to troubleshoot.

Banking Connectivity Issue

I am currently utilizing the trial period and have found the app to be significantly problematic - I have link by banking, via Plaid, and it does NOT update transactions. I have manually entered transactions for days, and find this absurd, considering this is part of the “paid” function (and I’ve paid considering you MUST enter payment info to obtain trial period). Further, there is not a “delete” option for any line item you may have entered correctly; users aren’t able to relocate budget lines between categories - overall, this app seems highly non user friendly and if this functionality doesn’t improve over the course of the next week, I’ll be cancelling.

Refresh still doesn’t work

For the past few months, I always see a number in my app like I have to resolve a transaction. The number is always wrong. It always has two extra “transactions “ that are not there when I actually open the app. This is a thing all day long. Very annoying to see that red number and nothing to actually resolve. Please fix this! My phone and my app are at the latest update.

Difficult to cancel

I attempted to cancel the introductory subscription several times before I was charged for a full year. This app does NOT show under Apple subscriptions. The help feature on the website directs me back to Apple to cancel! It’s a HUGE contradiction for an app that’s advertised to help with fiscal responsibility to actually be a subscription trap. Do better, Dave Ramsey!!!!!!

EXPENSIVE

i got this to try and help me make a budget. you can’t assign bills that are due at different paces. like if one is a weekly bill or a monthly, you can’t separate. you just have to set it up as a monthly cost. this throws things off. also REALLY pushing that yearly membership. nearly $20 for a monthly cost is CRAZY for a budgeting app.

Please. Fix. The. Badge!

I’ve been complaining about the badge being wrong all the time for the last several updates—for perhaps a year. I can tell you’ve done something but it’s still consistently wrong, just wrong in a different way. Aggravating. The app is mostly good. But the app badge is really screwed up. It shows that there are transactions to log when there are none or else the number is wrong. If there are any, after I log them, a couple minutes later the badge shows that there 3 new transactions, but there are always none. It does this consistently. If it shows a number of transactions to log at other times (not the 3 it shows right after I’ve logged all transactions), the number of actual transactions is always one fewer than what the badge indicates. The badge is almost always wrong now. Completely unreliable. Irritating. I pay a LOT of money for this service, so please fix.

Funds and Savings

Everything works fine but I wish there was a way to transfer money within the app instead of having to make two transactions to show that you moved money from one account to another. Also there should be a way to make savings goals that can be updated as you put the money in and can also be carried over to the next month.

Keeps crashing

I haven’t used this in a while, thought I would try again. Entered everything for the moth. Took a couple hours. Then when I went back in to review and add a transaction, it would not open past a green blank screen. I contacted the AI help. They said it was on my end, funny, I don’t have issues with any of my apps. But I deleted the app and it reloaded. Then used it and it now crashed again. So I think I’m done. I can’t go through this exercise every time I enter a transaction.

Broken

It appears the app updated yesterday and now it will not Load past a green screen. I use the app everyday. This has never happened. If I delete and reinstall, I’m warned that I’ll lose all my data. I like it otherwise. Please fix this and I will update the review. I Can find no other Way to contact you about the problem since the app Won’t load. I did restart my phone. Thanks!

App won’t open

The app won’t open and it’s infuriating

So frustrated

I’ve used this app for 5 years with only a hiccup here and there. However, today it suddenly gives me a blank green screen. I tried every recommended fix and nothing works. I’m extremely frustrated because even though o can still access my budget on my MacBook, that’s not how I use it. I use the app on my iPhone. It won’t let me log in to the website on my phone. It goes straight to the app which again, is a blank green screen. I use it on the go and don’t carry my MacBook everywhere I go.

Cancel

I just downloaded this app and didn’t realize there was a trial period and then a charge . I only put a small amount of information in . The trial is not showing up in apple subscriptions . How do I cancel the trial. I do not want to be charged

Would be great but…

Simple and easy to use. It doesn’t require you to link your bank accounts which is exactly what I wanted- I prefer to manually enter my transactions. Unfortunately it keeps logging me out and losing months of budgets when I log back in making it unusable. Logging back in is annoying enough on its own but each time it deletes 10+ months of budgets and transactions including the current month. It does this maybe every 1.5 to 2 months so I gave it a couple more chances in case it was a glitch that just happened once or twice but nope. It happened again. Deleted all of my budgets and transactions from December 2025 to current day (Sept 2026). And it’s almost the end of the month so I’m not going to go back in and redo weeks of transactions just for this to happen again in a month or two.

New Calculator Not User Friendly

Have used the app for a long time and pay for premium. This new calculator update may cause me to unsubscribe. You can’t hold the back button and erase a full number. The typing is slow and requires a done press. Developers should revert back to the one before.

Cash Flow feature now costs money to use after latest update!

With the latest update, the Cash Flow feature now costs money to use! It’s literally the main thing I use this app for, super frustrating as I’ve been using this app for the last year and it’s been great! Bad move, Ramsey!

Calculator Keys

Please get rid of the calculator keys - who asked for that??? All I want to do is manually enter my transaction amount. Having to work around a calculator buttons on half my screen with no way to turn off is frustrating. So many unnecessary changes make the app worse, not better.

Updates

For the past few months, the app always looks like it has new transactions that need to be dealt with, ( a number alert) but when I go into the app, there’s nothing pending. It’s not automatically refreshing. Even with all of the updates, this has not changed. I’ve been using the app for years, but for the money, there’s still always glitches like this. The tech should be there after all these years.

It's an ok app. I think they need to fix some quirks. Currently, when I try to change the name of the budget on a android phone, it won't let me confirm it to update. Also, when I change the amounts of how much I'm trying to save in a fund, and make other numerical changes it seems to add amounts as expenses, instead of resetting it to the new amount based on what was already saved. A little confusing still, after a couple months of using it. I enjoy that its free though.

Monthly Charge

I downloaded this app thinking it would be free or at least have a basic plan option that would be free. it’s not free at all, only the trial run is free for a few days. After 7 days you will be charged what u chose and there is only two options. one is yearly and the other is monthly.

Usable

Usable, though, I prefer not to support an out of touch old man that, in 2026, believes that going to a restaurant is what is keeping people poor. It is always the children of the rich that believe that they have toiled like the working class. Interestingly, they never seem afraid of failure when success is guaranteed for them. This is for Dave Ramsey, his children, and their ilk. Canceling.

Nothing will load as I’m trying to enter an items on my budget sheet and if it does load, it doesn’t do my updates and it glitches

Don’t misfile something

Don’t misfile any transactions. If you do, you can’t change it without deleting it.

Zero customer support

I’ve experienced many of the issues in this review - duplicate transactions, banks disconnecting, transactions not being cleared when deleted or categorized. I was willing to keep trying but I have created multiple support tickets and literally no one gets back to you. I like the UI but I am in the process of transitioning to another app. Edit: after nearly 2 weeks, still no support despite multiple tickets. Completely unacceptable that the app barely works and customer support is nowhere to be found. Furthermore the app doesn’t support analysis past 2 years, so insights is useless in the long term. I am in the process of transferring the data to Monarch and will drop everydollar as soon as it’s done. What a waste of my time and money.
