Character AI: Intrusive ads and monetization frustrations

Users are overwhelmed by constant, immersion-breaking advertisements and high costs that make the platform frustrating and expensive to use. Additionally, intrusive app mechanics like typing vibrations prevent discreet usage, causing users to get caught and further alienating them from the service.

6 different people have complained about this since 16 Oct 2026, most recently on 17 Oct 2026. 6 of them in the last 30 days.

“App was great but there is way to many ads there constantly on screen and every few chats you get ads makes it annoying and ruins immersion”

“I can bear sure but what annoys me these days is how it vibrates when the bot is typing which is literally impossible to secretly use in bed when I’m sharing a bed with someone and I keep getting caught.”

…dd it into the subscription so we could have no choice but to buy it. I hate it and i’m never spending my money on it. Bring old c.ai back. Stop being money hungry and so inconsiderate.

…ad ads but now they do EVERY MINUTE even when you tap into a new bot. I can bear sure but what annoys me these days is how it vibrates when the bot is typing which is literally impossible to secretly use in bed when I’m sharing a bed with someone and I keep getting caught. PLS FIX THIS

Character AI: Chat, Talk, Text — Too many ads and expensive asf This is way too many ads for the basic people, besides some of us can’t afford the payment plans :/

Questions about this idea

Is Intrusive ads and monetization frustrations a startup idea?
Not directly. These are complaints about a product or service people already use, and the fix belongs first to that provider. The page shows what is frustrating users and how badly — not an open market to start a company in.
How many people have this problem?
6 different people described it independently, in 6 mentions, the earliest from 16 Oct 2026 and the most recent from 17 Oct 2026. The quotes, with dates and links to the originals, are in the Evidence section.
Is this problem getting worse?
Status: steady — no change the counts can show. 6 people raised it in the last 30 days and 0 in the 30 days before; the status compares its share of everything collected from the same source, so collecting more or less cannot create a trend.
