I have a few suggestions that you can improve on

Hey, this app seems pretty cool and is great for people just starting out. I’m in my first year of high school struggling in AP computer science principles, and that class is 90% python. My teacher doesn’t teach well and although I do understand some things, and because of that, the starting lessons are way too easy for me and I can’t even skip anything. For this, I would HIGHLY recommend giving assessments for first time users for the course they choose to build a personalized curriculum for them based on their scores. This is the NUMBER ONE THING that would make this app rise far above the other computer science apps. If you can’t do that then make a button that says “jump here” so people can skip stuff they already know and go straight to things they need to know, but I would highly recommend the first option. Thank you!

Unclear packages

Mimo started great. Free app that you can upgrade to learn coding better. I used to be able to use the website to do my lessons for free. I upgraded to pro and a few months later it tells me that I have to upgrade to max to be able to use the website. What if I like to use the keyboard for typing code than the phone app? It’s ridiculous and I won’t renew my subscription next year

Do not believe they will tell you

Do not trust the app that tells you your trial will come to the end. I set it to remind me and it did not £68 gone and no refund due to be been eligible.

Great app… bad support

The app is great for learning but at least 3 times I tried to keep my streak and the app will not work. And when I tried to report it… there was nothing I can do to get my streak back after exhausting all troubleshooting steps in closing reinstalling the app. At least grant me full access since the app crash so I can continue on the desktop version and you guys change pricing on that too

Scammers

They basically scammed me. Offered me a free trail message saying I had 7 days trial but didn’t mention I had already used a trial in the past so they immediately charged 80 dollars and did not activate the trial. When I contacted apple they said it didn’t activate because I had already used a trial at some point in the past. My issue was why would they offer another trial in app as if to lure me to sign up when they only allow one trial. It’s misleading and they know exactly what they’re doing.

Good to an extent

I think it's good but I wish it would explain more on why we're donning certain things. In addition, sometimes it's asking me to do something and the instructions are unclear. I wish it could give me a hint without giving me the full solution. This might help me understand what they want me to do.

Mimo doesn't really teach you how to code, at least in my opinion. Every lesson is just a quiz of multiple choice answers that doesn't teach. The hard mode was a scam because it just adds extra context to the question rather than making an actual hard question. They have some scummy practices like hiding the estimated completion date of a given course until you pay (when you have like 3 lessons left). They are also missing a lot of coding languages like Golang. At this point, just use boot.dev.

They charged me while says try two weeks free yet the charge automatic 1 year subscription before two weeks were up!

Not working

I’m currently getting a message stating “oops something went wrong” and no matter what I do, that message is not going away. Can someone please help! I have been enjoying this app up until this point and would like to continue.

FALSE ADVERTISING AS FREE APP!!!

THIS APP IS NOT FREE ANYMORE!! I used to use this app everyday but now it is mandatory to pay for premium if you want to code for more than 5 minutes. They got rid of the heart system which let you go until you ran out of hearts and now each mini lesson is locked with a “key” that you have to pay money to keep attempting lessons. I already uninstalled and recommend you do not use this app unless your are willing to pay for premium.

My near 100 day streak :(

Today when I opened the app, it displayed “Oops, something went wrong. Try again later!”. I thought this had something to do with my internet, but I checked it and everything was fine. I deleted the app and then re-installed it, unfortunately that didn’t solve the issue.

I’ve been trying all day to get into Mimo to continue my streak and keep my daily habit. Paid for pro because I love it! Disappointed that there isn’t more communication around the issue and a timeline for a fix. I even did the most recent update today :( Will change review once it is fixed.

I was making phenomenal progress on this app. #1 my first week on the leader board and tracking to be in the top 5 this time. Today, while trying to do my daily streak, I encountered an error that will not let me progress. It says I'm offline, only after I complete a full lesson. So I'm now stuck. Thankfully right before my free trial ended, because I'm not going to pay since I can't continue.

Won’t even load

Was working perfectly fine but for the last week or so the app won’t even load nothing works except for the tab that says Mimo Max and I can’t code. I lose my streaks. I can’t do anything and I paid for the yearly membership. I even uninstalled and reinstall can we please fix this?

Not worth $$ & Garbage support

Doesn’t allow you to cancel subscription and then refuses to give refund.

Inoperable

“Oops something went wrong” on every screen on a fresh reinstall. The only thing that loads is asking for money. Why would I pay for a completely unusable app.

2 Key is not enough

I used to make a lot of progress but I took a break. Then, When I came back, I was shocked by how the new key system is making the app useless for free users. Before, I used to make at least 6 lessons a day and I was really enjoying and making great progress. Now, With 2 lessons max per day, I don’t enjoy and don’t make progress anymore. Bad Update. I’m now searching for new coding apps. Well done.

pretty cute and helpful for beginners. I downloaded this app to learn python from nothing, and it does a nice job of breaking down the concepts into easy to understand pieces, and the repetition here doesn't really bother me. tho I already feel myself using this as a review app complementary to another app that offers the same + more, but for free. I like the idea od the projects and additional practice, but they're locked behind a steep paywall. the free daily practice is limited to 2 lessons.

I understand the 2 free keys a day. I don't understand why the app keeps freezing, stating I'm offline (I am not) and then both not saving the lesson I completed while also using up one of my keys... as one other comment said, this is getting borderline predatory. It truly gives me no desire to go to the paid tier because what if I do and it's still as unreliable?

Frustration

After I subscribe for the premium user, the app stop working at all. Though I uninstalled and reinstalled. Same happen. Not function at all. Worse app ever!

paid for Pro with the understanding I could finish the course, just without professional certificates, which is fine. No, after you get to a certain point you HAVE TO ugrade to Max along with a Much higher price. Cancel and uninstall. its really a shame because this really is a great way to learn. it's to bad the developer just want more and more money.

Streak bug?

Sometimes I did a lesson of the day but it doesn’t register it and screws over my current streak. I don’t know if that just my memory, but I wish I would at least get streak freezes occasionally like Duolingo. Mimo sends notifications saying im out of streak freezes even though I’ve been given none since November ‘25. Just got my 79 day streak reset and kind of annoyed.

Misleading free trial

The app said 14 day free trial so I downloaded it today . They charged me today for an entire year when it says clear as day 14 day free trial you will not be charged if you cancel before the 14 days .

It got greedy

I started mimo around mid 2025 and used it for a few solid months. Then I forgot about it but when I went back I can only do 2 lessons max. After that the app becomes useless until the next day or unless you buy premium.

Stole my money. Beware!!

App is ok overall, but beware of what you are signing up for. I originally subscribed through my iPhone, then later upgraded through my Mac. I didn't have time to use the app so cancelled the subscription. A few months later, I have been charged for the annual subscription again. When I've queried why, they state that I had 2 subscriptions and cancelled one of them. Instead of realising their error, they refuse to refund me because it's more than 14 days from the ORIGINAL subscription. Question, would I have been charged 2 subscriptions if I hadn't cancelled one? If not then why are they reactivating the original subscription after I cancelled the upgraded one? Dodgy as hell. I will be raising this with my credit card company, apple and trading standards as this is a very underhand and illegal way to conduct business. Shame really, I enjoyed the app itself and may have resubscribed when I had more time but after this experience, not a chance and I'd advise people to stay away from this app and any other from this company.

Disappointing

Thought I’d trial out the max subscription, despite paying all that money, only to find out the app cannot sync progress between my phone and laptop…? Tried to logout, delete, reinstall etc but nothing. They don’t seem to want to offer any support either.

kinda seems like you don't do testing. I paid for the subscription but it's still asking me to buy the subscription and that I have 2 keys, even after doing more than 2 lessons today. hitting restore purchase just caused an error to show, seems like it keeps happening every couple of days or so. the "projects" that you used to be able to do in the browser are now just a feature of the Max subscription. the browser version doesn't track the progress from the app.

Was offered pro immediately for 59.99 before I even did my first lesson, made it seem like I needed pro to even use the app. after I did the first lesson I was offered 39.99 for the year with 79.99 marked out. limited to the next 2 days. after some thought I was going to buy it just for the price to change again to 59.99. very shady. I would've bought pro too and left a decent review, but obviously this company has no integrity and just wants to make as much money as possible. parasites.

Can't change difficulty / what I'm learning

I want to learn python but it's teaching me the absolute basics, variables strings and loops. I chose the intermediate knowledge level and there is no option to skip this waste of time. Duolingo lets you skip sections.

Lost its heart with the new keys feature unless paying for it

I used to love this and recommend it to everyone, however interested in learning since the new ‘ keys’ feature replaces the hearts , it now locks you out on every mini piece of learning. This means that you cannot learn any good chunks, only tiny piece meal parts, 2 keys a day means two minor Learning points a day, it also mean you no longer care about getting it wrong as you did with hearts. You now cannot use this to learn anything substantial in a short time without paying for the app now; which you can get free elsewhere. This used to be a great way to learn, limited by mistakes (loosing hearts), this meant the leader board was also a possibility; again this is now really only for paying members. Which is clearly what they want as ads don’t make enough for them. Such a shame! I plan to delete the app now and move on.

The app taught me lots of code quickly, but review and practice were poorly organized. I was given "practice" problems for code I'd not yet learned. So, I was not retaining syntax, format, or detail needed to combine concepts. The regular begging for me to upgrade got old very quickly. The final push came as I was battling for top spot in my league. The app cut me off from doing any further lessons for the day with no option to earn or purchase further lessons. Uninstalled and canceled.

Key update

The new update stinks and will have less people using the app just like what DuoLingo did. People want to learn at their pace

Ripoff

2 keys a day is worthless

Yikes. The limit of 2 lessons per day, recently instituted, makes the app terribly inaccessible, bordering on predatorily greedy. I didn't mind watching ads to continue learning more on days when I could commit more time, but now my excitement for learning something new is throttled behind a subscription. This will drive me away to one of the many other learning resources available. This greedy change reflects very poorly on an otherwise outstanding app. Consider before downloading.
