Much to my surprise I noticed in the mail server logs (I run my own server) that something was still downloading my entire mailbox… The IP address belonged to AWS and I have since discovered that Edison use AWS for their services, save your configuration details (including username and password) and continue using them to download your mail even if you uninstall the app! No doubt this is buried away in their Terms & Conditions but this is something they should surely be shouting about up front as I absolutely would not have consented had I known. After the test, the app was deleted from my device and I thought that was the end of my relationship with EdisonMail.\n\nI was totally wrong! \nDuring a random audit of sign-in logs, I have found EdisonMail servers have been accessing the test account in Exchange online constantly, even after the app was removed.\n\nTherefore, I believe EdisonMail servers act as your proxy for accessing your email account and store copy of your emails in their servers.
